RED STICK KENNELS GUARDIAN HOME PROGRAM

 

At Red Stick Kennels we believe that every dog deserves to have a loving, forever home. All of our dogs are part of our family and live in our home so we know they are getting as much attention as possible. Because of this, we have decided to offer a Guardian Home Program.

 

A Guardian Home is a permanent home of a quality health-tested puppy at a reduced adoption fee.  Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our top-notch puppies as a family pet while he/she remains in our breeding program for up to 6 litters or to the age of 5 for breeding females, and up to the age of 6 for breeding males.

 

Red Stick Kennels will retain ownership and ALL breeding rights. We reserve the right to cancel our guardian program at any time we deem the male or female is no longer a fit for our program. Once retired, he/she will be neutered/spayed at our expense and ownership will then transfer to the Guardian family.

 

Guardian Homes caring for a female will be compensated $500/litter once puppies go home. You are welcome to schedule a visit with us while she is in our care and play with her and her puppies!

As a Guardian Home, you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning the dog including monthly parasite control, annual exams, vaccines, a premium quality dog food of our choice, etc.  Red Stick Kennels will pay for all breeding-related costs.

 

Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:

• Have previous experience with dogs.

• Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, and lay down.

• Be willing to socialize your puppy. This is very important!

• He/She must be an indoor pet, housebroken, have access to a fenced yard, and never be left unattended outside.

• Feed a premium, quality food, of our choice.

• All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are of the opposite sex.

• Provide regular exercise.

• Provide regular grooming for the breed and updated pictures as needed.

• Be willing to let us schedule visits to your home as needed.

• Contact us immediately in the event of a serious illness or accident.

• Send documentation of all vet visits to us.

• Must not allow the guardian dog to mate with any unapproved dogs.

• Provide veterinary care when needed.

• If you are a guardian of a female dog, you must be willing to drop her off for 1-2 weeks while she is bred. Then drop her back off 1 week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned.

• If you are a guardian of a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off for 3-5 days for breeding.

• Guardians must be able to communicate with us about scheduling, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding-related.

• Guardian must submit a Guardian Home Application and all adults in the home must sign a legally binding Guardian Home Contract adhering to these requirements.
